FOR YOU TO READ ...
"God Reproducing Himself In Us" by E.W. Kenyon
Every real father desires to reproduce himself in his son. The
Father's dream is to reproduce Himself in us. You understand that
the New Creation has received the nature and life of the Father.
We invite the Holy Spirit, who has imparted to us this Nature
from the Father, to come into our body and make His home in us,
then as we begin to feed on the Word, practice the Word, live the
Word, He builds that Word into us. The very genius of
Christianity is the ability of God to build Himself into us
through the Word, so that in our daily walk we live like the
Master.
Ephesians 5:1,2 "Be ye therefore imitators of God, as beloved
children; and walk in love, even as Christ also loved you, and
gave himself up for us." As children of Love, we are to walk in
Love as Christ walked in Love toward the world. The Father so
loved the world that He gave His Son. Jesus so loved the world
that He gave Himself. Now I so love the world that I give myself.

Sometimes the simple words and simple melody of a song linger for
years and years in your memory. Here is one of those songs. It
may seem simple but it is also powerful. Edgar Stites, 1836-1921,
wrote this poem and it was published in a newspaper in 1876.
Someone gave the newspaper cutting to evangelist D.L. Moody, and
he asked his song leader, Ira Sankey, to compose a tune to fit
the words. It was constantly used in Moody's meetings and because
of its child-like expression of faith believers still love this
hymn.

    Simply trusting every day, Trusting through a stormy way;
Even when my faith is small, trusting Jesus, that is all.

Chorus: Trusting as the moments fly,
       Trusting as the days go by;
       Trusting Him what e'er befall,
       Trusting Jesus, that is all.

Brightly does His Spirit shine, Into this poor heart of mine,
While He leads I cannot fall, Trusting Jesus, that is all.

    Singing if my way is clear, Praying if the path be drear;
If in danger, for Him call, Trusting Jesus, that is all.

Trusting Him while life shall last,
    Trusting Him till earth be past;
Till within the jasper wall, Trusting Jesus, that is all.

THE FIRST STEP ON THE LADDER
				   (Peter Wade)

"In repentance and rest is your salvation, in quietness and trust
is your strength, but you would have none of it" (Isaiah 30:15).

The first step on the ladder is for me to be still in order to
know God. I must not be afraid of silence, of stillness, even
though it just happens to be an old-fashioned experience that is
not encouraged by present society. I will find a quiet place and
a spare minute each day to get my thoughts on God.
The verse in Psalms -- "Be still and know I am God" -- is not
an isolated command. The same truth is given clearly in Isaiah.
Here I learn that quietness and trust ["confidence" KJV] is not a
sign of weakness but a prerequisite to strength. Trust (or
confidence) is a stabilizing influence that flows out of the act
of stillness, out of receiving guidance from God. The way to have
trust and strength is to be still and quiet.
It is important when I get quiet to control my thinking. I
will put my problems and such things as the bills due for payment
out of my mind and enjoy peace and assurance from God. I get
still to recognize guidance and direction from Him. I get still
to "know God" and to discover the rich, prospering ideas that
will bring success to every part of my life. (From "You Are A New
Creation", Chapter 4, adapted by Hildy Matthews.)

AFFIRMATION: Peace, assurance and quietness are mine. I remember
to get still "to know God."

G. Campbell Morgan was a well-known preacher and writer of over
60 books from the first half of the 20th century. In this spot
each issue we reproduce a comment from one verse in every chapter
of the Bible. We continue with Paul's first letter to the
Thessalonians.

"But we were babes in the midst of you, as when a nurse
cherisheth her own children" (I Thessalonians 2:7)

I have resolutely adopted the marginal reading of the Revised,
substituting the word "babes" for "gentle." Most of the ancient
authorities have this word "babes." The word "gentle" has been
preferred because it has been thought to suit the context better.
Personally I do not think it does. The statement as it stands is
full of beauty. Perhaps no word of Paul anywhere more vividly
sets forth his tender solicitude for his spiritual children.
Observe the latter part of the figure first. It is not that of
a mother. It is that of a nurse and mother. The Revised helps us
here by the rendering, "a nurse cherisheth her own children." The
conception is that of the merging of trained intelligent skill
with natural mother-love. That is perfect care. A nurse may have
real skill, and even be scientifically devoted to her charges,
but all this leaves something lacking which is found in
motherhood. On the other hand, mothers whose love and devotion
are undoubted, have often wronged their children through
ignorance. Given a nurse with her own children, and the ideal is
realized.
Paul said that this was his attitude toward his spiritual
children, and he gives a beautiful description of it as he
writes: "We were babes in the midst of you." Origen interpreted
this to mean that Paul had talked to them in baby-language.
Immediately the nurse-mother among her bairns is seen and heard,
and there is nothing more to be said. Such was Paul's method with
his babes in Christ; and such should ever be the way of those who
have the oversight of the new-born children of God.
