Recently, Guy Vieira, president of Positive Words, Inc., (the US-based worldwide outreach arm for Peter Wade’s teachings and books) and MaryShannon, his wife traveled to Christ’s Church in Waldorf, Maryland to present the exciting truths from the book Dead & Alive by Peter Wade. This brilliant expository title relating to the believers’ position in Christ was the basis of a free 2-day seminar graciously hosted by Rev. Don Curtis and his enthusiastic church family.
It was an exhilarating experience for the participants representing at least two local congregations in the Washington DC area. Attendees were able to see for themselves how they already died with Christ, losing their old sin nature, were buried with Him, and then rose again in His power and authority, sharing his divine nature.
Rev. Curtis made the following observations from the weekend, “The Dead & Alive Seminar made it plain… you cannot try to become dead, but consider yourself dead already and alive to God. In chapter 7, Paul makes it clear that no human effort can ever overcome sin no matter how hard you try, and it is a complete failure to mix grace and law keeping.”
“For me,” says Guy Vieira, “it was amazing to see the expressions on peoples’ faces as they finally realized the identity of the so-called “wretched man” of Romans 7. Applying that truth is every bit as critical today as it was in the first century when Christianity had already begun to mix grace with law-keeping. Our privilege and challenge is the same today as it was then: to walk in Christ’s accomplishments.”
Marvin Jeffcott wrote: “I truly enjoyed having Guy and Mary stay with me at my place in Clinton, Md in July this year as they came to share with the congregation about dead to sin and alive to God. It was truly wonderful the way Guy presented the 5th, 6th and 7th chapter of Romans to us, it personally helped me greatly as these chapters were a bit of a struggle to me on understanding the depth of what the holy spirit was revealing through the apostle about my own life. I am very thankful the Lord Jesus sent Guy this way. I have a much better understanding of these chapters now. Praise be to God our father and the Lord Jesus for his provisions by his spirit.”
Audios of the Maryland teaching are available online and Peter Wade’s video version is on our Videos page.
